Chairman Wolfgang Steiger
|
The Chairman of ERTRAC, Wolfgang Steiger, is the director of Powertrain Research for the Volkswagen Group. His technical skills are in powertrain development and design. During his career he was involved with Robert Bosch GmbH, Battelle Institute and Adam Opel AG finally there being responsible for diesel engine development and test. In 1997 he joined the Volkswagen AG group research department. He is responsible for powertrain research, including diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, hybrids, batteries, fuel cells, engine electronics and fuels. He is responsible for more than 100 publications, presentations and lectures given in several Universities including in China. Wolfgang Steiger is member of the scientific research board of the German Car Manufacturers FVV and of the Mineral oil industry DGMK. In addition to ERTRAC, Mr. Steiger is engaged in several European organisations: Wolfgang Steiger graduated from the Technical University Darmstadt with a degree in mechanical engineering and holds an PhD (Dr.-Ing.) from the same university. In 2005 Wolfgang Steiger has been rewarded with the “Prof. Ferdinand Porsche Prize” |

Zissis Samaras
|
Zissis Samaras is a Full Professor and the Director of the Lab of Applied Thermodynamics, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, Aristotle University, Thessaloniki, Greece. His research work deals primarily with engine and vehicle emissions testing and modeling and he has carried out a wide range of projects on modeling emissions from internal combustion engines. Dr. Samaras was also involved in the development, testing and large-scale evaluation of Diesel particulate filters. He has provided expert advice to a number of organisations and private sector customers, including the European Commission, the European Environment Agency, the World Bank, the Greek Ministry of Environment, ACEA, CONCAWE, Rhodia, Inco. In addition, he was vice chairman of the management committee of COST action 319, on the Estimation of Exhaust Gas Emissions and coordinated a number of large European projects, including “Particulates, Characterisation of Exhaust Particulate Emissions from Road Vehicles” and “Inspection & Maintenance of in-use Vehicles”. He is elected Academic Member of the European Road Transport Research Advisory Council (ERTRAC) on "Energy, Environment and Resources". He is the author of more than 250 scientific publications, among them more than 100 in peer-reviewed journals, which received more than 400 citations in peer reviewed articles, reviews and technical notes. |

Vice-Chairman Helmut List

Helmut List is Chairman and CEO of AVL List GmbH. AVL is the world’s largest privately owned and independent company for the development of powertrain systems with internal combustion engines as well as instrumentation and test systems and employs in its worldwide network around 4,300 people. List holds a wide range of industrial and public positions at national, European and international level. He is Vice-Chairman of European Road Transport Research Advisory Council (ERTRAC), Honorary Consul of the Republic of Korea for Styria, an honorary professor at the Universities of Tongji and Jilin in China and chairman of the University Board of the Technical University Graz. He is an SAE Fellow and an associate member of the National Academy of Engineering and Technology. He has received numerous national and international awards and honors. |

Vice-Chairman Jean-Luc di Paola-Galloni
|
Jean-Luc di Paola-Galloni is CEO' delegate, member of the executive committee at Valeo since December 2006. He joined ERTRAC as Vice-Chairman in July 2008 representing the automotive suppliers industry. He was previously advisor to the CEO of Gaz de France (2002-2004) and has a research experience in the field of defense, international relations at Harvard University and Ecole Normale Supérieure (in France). |
